City Council Meeting

I went to my first City Council meeting last night because I wanted to show my support for the Fine Arts Center they are proposing to build in the City of Poway. I was impressed by the new council building and I saw a bunch of my artist friends from the North County Society of Fine Arts. It was really a cool experience.

I sat toward the back and sketched as people spoke. First there was an attorney for the mobile home residents that want a chance to purchase the park. This was denied. I have a basic idea of what is going on but I am not up to date on all the facts. There were about 35 mobile home tenants present, all wearing orange T-shirts. I drew Bob Emery, Council Member, Mickey Cafagna, Mayor and the back of the attorney for the Mobile home park. The lady on the far left under Bob Emery is wearing headphones hanging down by her chin.

After viewing the architect's revised designs, each council member expressed pleasure with the new results. There were 37 letters of support from citizens attending the council meeting and 1 letter opposed by a resident not in attendance. The motion for the art center passed 5/0. I drew Betty Rexford, Council Member and Diane Shea the City Clerk. Yipee!

4th Worldwide Sketch Crawl

There is a guy in San Francisco named Enrico. I don't know how I came across his site, but being a sketch lover I read with interest how he started a World Wide Sketch Crawl. My interpretation is this: Its kind of like bar hopping, you know, you go from bar to bar and drink until you drop, excuse me, crawl. His "Sketch Crawl" is a drawing marathon going from location to location sketching until you crawl.

The sketch crawl site has a forum for people to organize a Sketch Crawl in different cities around the world. I tried to organize one in San Diego. A stranger, said he would meet me at Pala Casino in the food court. We met but he left and never came back. My friend couldn't make it after all and I ended up making my own party. My sketches follow.

7 11
It was 97 degrees today and my car was having problems on the way home.
I stopped at a 7-11 to let it cool off. I did this sketch from the parking lot.
There were 2 guys next to me eating pizza in their car and complaining how hot it was.

My sketch crawl route

This is the route I took.
Would I do it again?
Oh................. yes!

This is a sketch of my dog Boone. Its funny how the carpet looks like it is floating. mmm
It kind of makes me dizzy.
One side has depth, the other has no depth.
